DIGITAL DOWNLOADS NOW AVAILABLE! - October 1, 2007
I finally registered 9 of my songs for digital downloading through Snocap on my MySpace page (see links). You can buy any track you like for only .99 cents. Here's a little background on each of the tracks.
"Right Mind" is a bluesy folk ballad about hope. It's about that time in the greiving process when you're ready to start letting go of the hurt but haven't quite succeeded yet. I think the arrangment of this song turned out just right. I hope to be able to promote this song on commercial radio one day because I've gotten so much positive feedback about this song - it seems to touch people in a special way.
"She's So Insane" - well I think everyone can relate to this song! Doesn't everyone know at least one person who drives them crazy? You know, that person you see headed your way and you find yourself ducking for cover! The person who speaks first and maybe gets around to thinking second! ;-) I wrote this song when I was mighty p...'d off at someone and it helped me find my sense of humor and let it go. This song was recorded in Nashville and produced by Jerry Cupit. I think he did a fantastic job. When I brought the demo to him it had more of a girl-group approach, a la The Donnas. He went in a completely different direction and it turned out great! I really love this recording.
"In The Stillness" This is a beautiful song about the power of going within and finding that still place inside that connects you to the Universe, to God, to a Higher Power; whatever you call it doesn't matter, you just know it when you find it and it feels good. It's a place of healing and insight, of forgiveness and communication with the God of your heart.
"Fear" well, this song has different meanings for different people. I think I'll just leave it at this: when we're afraid, we can't think clearly for ourselves. There are a lot of institutions that take advantage of this and use fear to control people.
"Feels Like Thunder" All of the songs on the EP are some of my favorites, but this one is really special to me. It's about longing to be free of the facades we all hide behind and to be loved and accepted for who I truly am - imperfect as that is.
"Perfect Way To Go" I consider myself a "recovering perfectionist." In my effort to be perfect I lost myself, my health, my joy and my forgiveness. Learning how to be vulnerable enough and strong enough to be internally defined has been a difficult but liberating process for me. I wrote this song about a friend of mine who also struggles with "perfect pictures." It's a reminder for me.
"Don't Tell Me What To Do" I think the title says it all! I love what my guitar player - Victor Manning - did with this song. It has kind of an ELO sound which I really like.
"Here & Now" This song was also recorded in Nashville with Jerry Cupit. This song is a source of healing for me. It's my wake-up call to be in present time and make my life happen for myself instead of hiding my dreams and desires out of fear that they're too big or too impossible.
"Heavy Load" Another Nashville track, this song was written at the beginning of my journey back to myself. I just felt so burdened by unrealistic expectations and responsibilites and I had spent so much time criticizing myself that I really had put myself into a bad place. It wasn't until I got angry enough and scared enough (my health was deteriorating) to question everything I was doing in my life that I had the guts to change. This song is about that turning point.
